Love God by Appreciating What He has Done
Pray - (1/2 minute)
Read - (2 1/2 minutes) - "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life form the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psalm 103:2-5)
Passage: James 1:16-17
When you were born, you didn’t bring anything with you materially into this world. When you die, you won’t take anything materially out of this world. In between, whatever you have is a gift from God. James recognized this when he wrote, “Every good and perfect gift is from above. . ..” Paul challenged the attitude of Corinthian believers who took pride in their prosperity and wrote, “Who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And is you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?” (1 Corinthians 4:7)
Love will grow in the heart in proportion to one’s gratefulness to the giver. God has blessed you. As a believer in Jesus, you have eternal salvation. You didn’t earn it by anything you did. Salvation was bought by the sacrifice of Jesus and is given to you freely by grace through faith. You also have blessings in life. The very talents you develop are possible because of your DNA. The resources you have were given by God through the provision of your job or as a gift from someone. Be appreciative for what God has done and count your blessings. Your love for Him will grow deeper as you do.
