Know that God Seeks to Save Everyone

Read - (2 1/2 minutes) - ". . . Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? . . . Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?. . . But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” (Luke 15:4b, 8b, 20b)
Passage: Luke 19:1-10
It takes effort to find something that is lost. For the shepherd to go find one sheep out of a hundred who wandered away and got lost, it meant he had leave the secure area he had built and go into the wilderness to find the lost sheep. His search would cause him to lose sleep. It might cause him to encounter wild animals. It might take him over rougher terrain. Yet, he went in search of the lost sheep because that sheep was valuable to him. The woman who lost the coin, had to get on her hands and knees and meticulously sweep every part of the house. For the father, it meant he spent his days looking down the road, patiently waiting for his lost son to return. Seeking lost things is not easy.
God considered us so valuable, that God the Son left the glory of heaven, took on human flesh, and came to die on a cross to pay the penalty for the sin we owed, but couldn’t pay. When Jesus was criticized for going to the home of the tax collector, Zaccheus, He replied, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:9-10) That is love!
