Receiving God’s Love
Pray - (1/2 minute)
Read - (2 1/2 minutes) - "Now the tax collectors and “sinners” were all gathering around to hear Him, and the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, ‘This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.’ ” (Luke 15:1-2)
Read: Psalm 80:1-7
Part of being created in the image of God is the music can stir the soul. With all the styles and of music and subjects sung about, studies of music themes have found that from 67% to even 90% of songs deal with the subject of love and relationships. John Lennon recognized the power of love when wrote the song “All You Need is Love.” Then over a decade later, Tina Turner sang a song titles, “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” Lennon’s song speaks of the need, but it doesn’t identify what kind of love is needed. Turner’s song gets a response, ‘God’s love has everything to do with it, but the world’s love will let you down.’
God’s love is selfless, serving and sacrificial. It is accepting and available to all. The people who the Jewish leaders considered outcasts and beyond the love of God were attracted by the true love they sensed in Jesus. That love brought healing and hope to their lives and that love will do the same for anyone who will believe and receive Jesus.
