Passage: 2 Timothy 1:1-7
I thank God for the home I grew up in. Our home was filled with love and laughter, but we also experienced discipline when we were out of line in home or out. The main disciplinarian in our home was our mother. I jokingly say that I respected my dad, but I feared my mom. That fear wasn’t a dread of abuse or feeling of being unloved. I knew that I was loved unconditionally, but I also knew that my mother would discipline me.
The fear of God for a believer is a reverence and awe of God, knowing that He sees, hears and knows everything you do, say or think and that He disciplines out of love. Solomon’s final description of a woman worthy of praise is that she fears the Lord. She has placed her faith in Jesus. She knows God loves her and she wants to please Him in her life. That should be the characteristic of every believer. God loves you and wants you to grow deep in your faith. Have a quiet time each day with the Lord in His Word and in prayer. Be part of a small group for Bible Study, encouragement and service. Worship consistently and wholeheartedly. Let your life be worthy of praise.
