Be Disciplined with Finances

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. . . . She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. . . . She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” (Proverbs 31:16,20,25)
Passage: 1 Timothy 6:6-19
I think one of the dumbest adjectives often used to differentiate a mother who receives a paycheck from one who doesn’t is “working mom.” While approximately 74% of mothers with children earn a paycheck, the stay-at-home mother is definitely a working mom. I once read a calculation that placed the value on the hourly pay scale of the different kinds of jobs a stay-at-home mother does. She is a chauffeur, cook, custodian, laundry operator, nurse, counselor, financial manager, tutor and more. The calculation estimated a working value of over $100,000 per year if all the tasks were outsourced.
Whether a woman works outside of the home or inside the home, one principle for being a woman worthy of praise is to be disciplined with finances in managing the resources God provides. God’s financial plan includes working diligently at whatever you do, giving faithfully and generously to others and saving systematically to prepare for the future. Trust God in His provision, develop contentment and manage what He places in your hands. He will take care of you.
