Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “We have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us what you did in their days, in days long ago. . . I was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them.” (Psalm 44:1-3)
Passage: Psalm 22:1-5
The writer of Psalm 44 was inspired to express confidence that God would give success to His work in the present, because of how He had given success in the past. He was recounting the time with the children of Israel come into the Promised Land and conquered it. He talked about how God had done the work and given the victory in ways that the people could not have done by themselves.
Our church family, First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie has witness God give success to His work in ways behind anything we could have done or planned. The campus we sit on would be impossibly expensive for our church if we we trying to relocate today. As it was, at the time we bought the land, it was beyond our human ability to raise the money based on our giving history at the time. Yet, God moved and provided in ways we could not plan and today, our church campus is debt free and we are free to give more to missions and more for ministry than if we still had debt Also, we are in position where we are visible, and accessible. It is all the work of God and it came as we followed principles we find in God’s word. Ezra describes the way God gave success to the building of His Temple after a period of inactivity. Those principles are applicable to any church, in any place today. Follow God. He will give success to His work.
