Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
          Passage: 1 John 1:1-2

When God delivered His people out of bondage in Egypt, He led them through the wilderness with His glory shining in front of them 24/7. During the day, his glory shined in a pillar of cloud. During the night, His glory shined in a pillar of fire. (Exodus 13:21-22) The people saw God’s glory, but they never saw God’s face. However, the Apostle John along with the other disciples look upon the face of God when they looked at Jesus and they saw this glory. As they looked at Jesus, they saw what God designed us to be and how He intended us to live. We are designed for fellowship with God, to live in dependence on God and to be a blessing to others in service.

The glory of God was exemplified in Jesus through perfect grace and truth. Jesus spoke truth when He called out sin. He showed grace when He extended forgiveness and let people know that eternal life was their’s through faith that He is Lord and Messiah. John saw the glory of Jesus in the character and conduct He showed and in the change that came at the transfiguration when the glory of His divine life burst through the flesh and clothing of His humanity. Jesus is God and as the incarnate Word, He lets us see God perfectly.
