Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured. . . . Tell Archippus: ‘See to it that you complete the work you have received in the Lord.’ ” (Colossians 4:12, 17)
Passage: Ephesians 4:11-16
Football games are played with 11 players on the field for each side. Basketball games are played with 5 players on the courts. Baseball games are played with 9 players. All sports have multiple players who can be called into the game and each one has different positions that they play. While it technically would be allowed, playing with less players or not having extra players who can sub in, would leave any team at a huge disadvantage and would keep a team from functioning at its best. That same thing applies to a local church.
God did not design us to go through life alone or to fulfill His purposes alone. No one has all the tools necessary to do all the work that God designs a church to do and no can do all the work by himself. In the local church, I need you. You need me. We all need each other. Our purpose is to “glorify God and work with Him as He builds His kingdom.” Help your church do God’s work and fulfill His purposes for you alongside His family.
