Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” (John 14:1-4)
Passage: 2 Corinthians 1:18-22
During political campaigns, candidates for offices make a lot of promises. Some of the promises are for things that are not in their power to bring about on their own and therefore, do not get fulfilled if they get elected. Other promises aren’t fulfilled because the candidate was simply lying about them. Promises depend on the integrity of the person who makes them and the power of the person to bring them to pass. Only one person who has ever lived on earth can definitively claim he or she has kept every promise made or that he or she can fulfill every promise. That one is Jesus. On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus made three promises to His disciples and thereby to all believers. First is the promise of an eternal home. Heaven is a guaranteed home for anyone who believes and receives Jesus. Second is the promise of His return. Third is the promise of His presence forever. No matter what uncertainties you will ever face here on earth, when you have Jesus in your life, you have the definitive answer for the future. Jesus is everything. Look to Him and rest in His promises.
