Determined Discipleship Needs a Quiet Time with God

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for Him and when they came to where He was, they tried to keep Him from leaving them. But He said, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because theat is why I was sent.” And He kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.” (Luke 4:42-44)
   Passage: Psalm 51:1-7

‍ ‍When I was a freshman in college, our Baptist Student Ministry used a book written by Walter Henrichsen entitled, Disciples are Made, not Born. The title expresses the spiritual reality that becoming a child of God comes through simple faith in Jesus Christ and confessing Him as Lord. God then wants His children to grow into maturity in Christ and live as a disciple. A disciple is a disciplined follower of Jesus.

One of the most important disciples that you can have as a believer is a daily Quiet Time with God. A Quite Time is time you spend with God (usually in the morning) in His Word and in prayer. There are many benefits of of having a Quiet Time, but the main one is getting to spend time with God. He loves you and He wants you to love Him back. One way to spell love is t-i-m-e. Time is a currency of love and a quiet time has great dividends for those who do it.
