Senior Adults in the Family of God Planted by Faith in Jesus

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted int he house of the Lord, . . .” (Psalm 42:12-13a)
      Passage: Psalm 47:1-9

           In His creation, God has given us a number of pictures to help us see and understand principles for how He wants us to live and experience His best for our lives. In Psalm 92, the Psalmist was inspired to use a palm tree and a cedar tree to illustrate the blessings of being righteous and he gives special word to encourage senior adult to keep living by faith.

The first thing about the righteous is that they are planted by faith in Jesus. Righteousness is not something we can gain on our own. Nothing we do can make us right with God. Jesus lived the perfect life we couldn’t live and He died to pay the penalty for sin which we owed. When we put our faith in Jesus and confess Him as Lord, God gave us the righteousness of Jesus and put us into His family. We don’t plant ourselves in His house. He plants us. Thank God for His grace that drew you to Christ.
