Passage: Romans 8:28-39
When Elijah showed up and pronounced the judgment of a drought, I don’t think King Ahab took it very seriously. There’s no indication that Elijah was known as a prophet of God and Ahab had a cold heart towards God. However, after the prophecy was shown to be accurate and the drought was felt, Ahab would start trying to hunt Elijah down to kill him. God showed His care for Elijah by sending him to an area in Gilead, where there was a brook tucked away in that mountainous region. Few would know about it and if anyone came looking for Elijah, he would have been able to hide. There, Elijah experienced God’s protection and provision.
God cares for you, just as He cared for Elijah and one area of His care is in the protection He gives you. His physical protection is sometimes dramatically seen, but also in multiple ways not seen. However, God shows His care in a protection far greater than over your body. It is His protection for your soul. When you believed in Jesus, you received His Spirit, and you are eternally secure. Nothing can separate you from God’s love or take away your salvation. Thank God for His care and trust Him in dry times of life.
