Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Jerusalem is built like a city that is closely compacted together. That is where the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, to praise the name of the Lord according to the statue given to Israel.” (Psalm 122:3-4)
Passage: Psalm 95:1-3
Sometime preachers will try to cajole their members to be more enthusiastic in worship by saying we should be even more excited about worshiping God that we are about cheering on our favorite team at a football game. I heard of one man who said he did that, but was told not to come back to the church. When asked why he replied, “Apparently, they didn’t like it when I ran up behind the preacher after the service and dumped Gatorade over his head!”
Enthusiasm in worship is not about how emotional you can get or how loud you can be. It is a spirit of commitment and joy that comes from getting to be in God’s house with God’s people to join together to praise the Lord. Enthusiasm has a unifying effect for God’s family as they worship in one accord and with the purpose of glorifying God and joining with His work to build the Kingdom. The DNA of the Spirit in you is enthusiastic about worship. Let Him have His way and go to worship this week with a spirit of enthusiasm in you.
