DNA - We Build Relationships when we are Active

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common.” (Acts 2:43-44)
      Passage: 1 Corinthians 12:12-20

I once heard fellowship defined as two fellows on the same ship going in the same direction.  That is certainly a good picture of one aspect of fellowship, which is being together. However, fellowship in God’s family is much more. The Greek word for fellowship, koinonia, speaks of having fellowship through participation. It implies that the ones in fellowship are not just together in a place. They are active in their service with a shared purpose in mind.
The early church gives us a picture of believers being active. They were active in witnessing with boldness. They were active in ministering, both to one another and out in the world. A healthy church that expresses the DNA of the Spirit is not simply active in doing things that don’t matter. They are active in caring for one another and in doing service ministries that share the love of Christ and touch people for Him. God has gifted you and every other believer with gifts to be used in service. No one is called to do everything, but everyone is called to do something. When you use your gifts in service alongside others, you will build fellowship with them and you will be blessed.
