Passage: Philippians 4:10-20
Look around your house. Whether you got some things as hand-me-downs or bought furniture and other things brand new, when you pass away, chances are, your children will keep very little and will sell the rest in an estate sale or give it away. In all cases, the things you have accumulated on this earth will not last forever here, and they won’t be transferred to heaven. The only investments that go into eternity are the investments made in the kingdom of God through the giving of your time, talents and treasures. Those investments are made through generous service.
Serving generously does many things. It prioritizes God’s kingdom. It participates and provides for God’s work. It also believes the promises of God. Paul tells us that generosity in doing good deeds and in sharing resources carries with it a promise of heavenly reward along with deep spiritual growth and satisfaction in life right now. Generous giving in service and stewardship pleases God and He promises to meet the needs of His children who serve Him like that. Trust Him and let the DNA of generosity be a hallmark of your life.
