Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, ‘Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.’ Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.” (Acts 2:40-41)
     Passage: Psalm 5:1-12

50 days after the Passover, Jews from all over the know world came back to Jerusalem for the Festival of Shavuot, or Pentecost. That day, the Holy Spirit descended upon 120 disciples of Jesus who were gathered together in an upper room of a house in Jerusalem. On that day, the believers were permanently filled with the Spirit and the church was born. Thousands of people in Jerusalem heard the sound which the Spirit made when He descended. The believers went out and they began sharing Jesus with the people who were there. Then, Peter preached the first sermon of the new church, and when he gave an invitation, about three thousand people responded to believed in Jesus and were baptized.

When a church claims to follow the New Testament pattern for a church, one of the things that church must be focused on is sharing Jesus with the world. The Spirit within you and within the Body of Christ desires for everyone to know Him and for the family of God to grow. Satan doesn’t want that to happen and the fleshly, sin nature of our lives will pull away from it. Let the Spirit have his way and follow His leading. Let sharing Jesus be the desire of your heart and the desire of your church family.
