  Passage: 1 Chronicles 29:10-20

When Pam and I have people come into our home, we don’t fix something to eat or drink for ourselves and then ask our guests to provide their own food or beverage. That is our treat and our responsibility. In the same way, God didn’t design for the ministries of His church and the care of His houses of worship to be financed by asking money from the world. The provision for God’s work through a local church is the responsibility and privilege of God’s people to give through their service and their stewardship.
Serving Christ by giving your time, talents, tithes and offerings is not a matter of compulsion. Your salvation is given as a gift of God by grace and the Spirit of Christ in you wants you to give generously and freely out of gratitude. When you give, you help provide the needs to carry out the work that God is doing in the world. Paul encouraged the Corinthian church to give generously to an offering for believers who were suffering in Jerusalem and said, “You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” Serve well.
