DNA - Jesus is our Motivation to Act

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “After He said this, He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid Him from their sight. They were looking up into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. ‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the shy? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.’ ” (Acts 1:9-11)
          Passage: 2 Timothy 4:6-8

When Jesus ascended to heaven, He didn’t take any of the disciples with Him. He left them behind with a mission – go and be His witnesses to the world. They heard Jesus tell them, but their first reaction as they saw Him taken up to heaven, was to stand there looking up into the sky. God sent two angels to let them know, they needed to move on, go back to Jerusalem, spend time in prayer and wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit to descend on them to give them the power to do their mission.
Jesus is coming again. It could be today. It could be tomorrow, next week or years from now. He may not return in your lifetime here on earth, but whether He does or not, one day you will stand before Him and see Him face to face. Knowing that brings a motivation to act in such a way that you may hear Jesus say, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 25:23)
