Passage: John 14:8-14
Every person who has ever lived has a beginning to their life. It began at the moment of conception and is identified by their birth-day, when they came out of the womb and into the world. The lone exception is Christ Jesus. Before He was conceived and then born into this world, He was always alive as God the Son, co-existent and co-eternal with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. When He wrapped Himself in human flesh, He was not conceived with the seed of a human father. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit. He became 100% man, but He was and is 100% God. He is the incomparable Word of God.
Jesus knew who He was and why He came. He specifically identified Himself as God when He told the religious leaders one day, “before Abraham was born, I am!”, which is the name God used to identify Himself to Moses. (John 8:58) C.S. Lewis, in his book, Mere Christianity, pointed out that there are only three options when looking at Jesus. Either He was a liar, a lunatic, or He is Lord, just as He claimed to be. Christmas has zero meaning apart from Jesus. He is incomparable in His person. He is the Christ, the Word of God and the Word is Christmas.
