Passage: Romans 8:28-39
Salvation is the greatest gift of God you will ever receive. It means that you were saved from the penalty of sin. Jesus paid the penalty for you on the cross and His perfect life is credited to your eternal account. Salvation also means that you are being saved from the power of sin. The Holy Spirit will enable you to grow up as a child of God. As you follow Christ and His Word by faith, you will grow in spiritual maturity and your earthly condition will be more reflective of your eternal position. Finally, salvation means that you will be saved from the presence of sin. God has prepared heaven for you and all His children.
Nothing can take God’s salvation away from you if you have believed in Jesus and confessed Him as Lord. Your flesh will still have struggles with self-centeredness and sin, but it does not have any power to take away the Spirit of Christ in you. As I reflect on that, the chorus of an old song comes to mind:
Saved, by His power divine. Saved, to new life sublime.
Life now is sweet, and my joy is complete,
For I’m saved, saved, saved!”
Be thankful for your salvation and live for Christ each day!
