Act to be a Blessing

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:31-33)
  Passage: 2 Corinthians 8:1-5

You are blessed, but you are not blessed just so you can enjoy your blessings in isolation to others. You are blessed to be a blessing. Jesus laid out principles of living a full and meaningful life and one giant principle is to learn how to live by faith instead of worry. Worry comes from focusing on the temporal things of life, since everyone knows they can be gone in a moment. Acquiring more doesn’t truly satisfy the soul, otherwise everyone who has abundance would be the happiest people in the world. They are not.
Jesus pointed out that God loves you and will take care of you, and then He said, “Seek first His Kingdom”. He stated that as a command to obey instead of a choice to make, because our human nature is easily distracted from the things that are eternal. When you became a believer and a child of God, you received purpose in life to “glorify God and work with Him to build His Kingdom.” God gives you what you have, to take care of you and for you to enjoy, but He wants you to be a channel of blessing to others. Act to be a blessing. Give to be a blessing. Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35) It is!
