Passage: Psalm 2:1-8
When God created mankind, with the first man named Adam, He designed Adam to have a relationship with Himself. He also designed that mankind would need relationships with other people and God indicated that when He said, “It’s not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helpmate for him.” (Genesis 2:18) The closest relationship for Adam would be the marriage, which would form a family and be His design for populating the earth with children from marriage. In addition to family, God designed for mankind to be relational with other people. He designed us for friendship.
Sin marred everything, but God in Christ brings us back to live by God’s design. The DNA of the Spirit makes all believers brothers and sisters in Christ. He designed for us to have relationship with each other, to give support and encouragement within Biblical community. Far too often, the world sees relationships in the church being dysfunctional when God’s children live by their flesh instead of by the Spirit. Set your heart to be a builder of relationships as the DNA of His Spirit wants to do through you.
