DAYS OF ELIJAH - “A Life Well Lived”
Pray – (1/2 minute)
Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “The man with the two talents also came, ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.’ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ ” (Matthew 25:22-23)
Passage: Psalm 149:1-5
If someone asked me what I would like for people to say about me at my funeral, one of my answers would be “Wow. He was really old.” I would certainly hope some nice things are said as well, but when this life is over, the things said about me or you on earth will not matter as much as what God says to us in eternity. Jesus told a parable about three people who were given different amounts of money (talents), to manage on behalf of their master. Two of them were faithful and heard the master say, “Well done.”
At the end of Elijah’s ministry, he took Elisha on a journey to places that were significant to Israel in their history. Each one has a lesson we can learn about walking with God and being faithful to his plans and purposes for our lives. Elijah finished well and you and I can to. Make it your aim to hear God say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
