Make Your Days Count

Because Ahaziah had no son, Joram succeeded him as king in the second year of Jehoran, son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah. As for all the other events of Ahaziah’s reign, and what he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?” (2 Kings 1:17-18)
Passage: Matthew 25:14-30
Ahaziah only had a two-year reign as king of Israel. He rejected the Lord and chose to follow the false god, Baal, just as his father and grandfather had done. The writer of Kings tells us that he died without a son, so a man named Joram was named as his successor. He tells us that he had some things written in the history book of the kings, but the only thing we really know about those two years is that Moab had rebelled against Israel after Ahab died. (2 Kings 1:1)
In Psalm 92:12, Moses wrote, “Teach us to number our days aright, that may gain a heart of wisdom.” Moses recognized that the years we live on earth are finite. You can’t count how many days you have in life to live, but you can seek to make your days count. Recognize that you are accountable before God and acknowledge Jesus is Lord. Be humble and serve God by serving others. As you do, God will use you to make an impact in this world and when this life is over, you can hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
