Passage: 2 Kings 1:5-16
When the messengers returned, that Ahaziah sent to inquire of the false god, Baal, he asked why they were back so soon. They told him a man had met them and share with them the message that man gave, which he said came from the Lord. That message told Ahaziah that because he had rejected the one and only God, he would never recover, but would die. Ahaziah realized it was Elijah, so in his anger he sent a captain in his army with a company of 50 men to bring Elijah in. The first captain approached Elijah with a demand to come down from the hill where he was sitting. Elijah responded with a call of judgement from God that resulted in the deaths of the captain and all 50 men.
A second group was sent, and the captain took the same approach. The judgement was the same as well. A third captain was sent, but he approached Elijah with humility and the fear of God. Because of that, he had an impact on saving the lives of his company and seeing Elijah come with him back to Ahaziah. As you go through each day, walk in faith and humility before God. He will use you and grant you success in making an impact on others.
