You are Accountable to God

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, because he walked in the ways of his father and mother and in the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin. He served and worshiped Baal and provoked the Lord, the God if Israel, to anger, just as his father had done.” (1 Kings 22:52-53)
     Passage: Psalm 139:1-6; 23-24

A man went to interview for a new job. The interviewer said that the company was looking for people who were responsible. The man said, “That’s me. In my last three jobs, whenever anything went wrongs, they said I was responsible!” It is common, human nature, to blame others for our own sin, but ultimately, our actions are our own and we are responsible for them.
After King Ahab died in battle, his son, Ahaziah, ascended to the throne. The example he had from his father and mother was one of rejecting God and worshiping Baal. He had seen the power of God displayed on Mt. Carmel when Elijah had the showdown with the prophets of Baal and God showed Himself in a mighty and dynamic way. He had known of the prophecy that his father would die in battle and saw it come true though Ahab tried to hide. However, he chose to walk in his father’s ways and God would hold him accountable. Live with awareness that sees and knows you and seek to live out His purposes for you each day.
