IN THE FAMILY OF GOD - One In Christ

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor famale, for you are lAll one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26-28)
          Passage: Psalm 42:1-6

           Family is God’s idea and His foundational institution for human relationships, personal development and societal stability. The world recognizes the importance of family as seen in the number of days that Americans have designated to recognize and celebrate different family relationships. There is Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparents Day, Sibling day, Step-family Day, Cousins Day and more. Each of those days puts a focus on the diversity in life and family. Each relational position has a something to contribute and each one can be used by God to impact the lives of others.

While God has designed diversity in people and in the positional relationships within a family on earth, in His eternal family, there is not any distinction. Paul points out that everyone who places his or her faith in Jesus is a son of God. If someone asked me how a female can be a son of God, I would say it’s the same way I am included in the Bride of Christ, the church. There is no distinction of male and female or mother or father in His family in eternity. Yet, his diverse design on earth makes the distinctions special and provides the structure for people to grow and become the best they can be as they follow Christ and His Word.
