THE TRANSFORMING GOSPEL - Useful in God’s Kingdom

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:11-13)
          Passage: Psalm 37:1-6

When I do my lawn work, I am thankful for the tools that enable me to do it quickly and efficiently. They were designed to do the jobs I need, but if they aren’t useable, there’s generally two reasons. One is that they are not connected to a power source. Two is that they were not maintained and have either rusted or have something disconnected internally that keeps the power source from activating the tool.

Your life is so much more than a tool or machine, but like them, you were created by God and designed to be useable in His service. The Apostle Paul wrote his letter to Philemon to advocate for Philemon to receive Onesimus, who was a runaway slave. He encouraged Philemon to take Onesimus back into his household without punishing him and even, more, with a recognition that Onesimus would be useful to him and in the Kingdom of God. Set your heart to be useable and be all God designed you to be.
