Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, . . . Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.” (Philemon 1:4, 7)
          Passage: Psalm 36:5-9

If you have ever worked outside on a hot summer day, you know how the heat drains energy and then how refreshing it is to get a cup of cold water. Circumstances and relationships can be like either the energy draining heat or the refreshing cup of water. The Apostle Paul commended Philemon as a man who gave refreshment to others who felt drained by the negative circumstances or people they encountered and God wants your life give refreshment as well.

Proverbs 11:25 says, “a generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” When you have been transformed by Christ, you have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you. Through His power, you have the capacity to chose to be an encourager. You can give refreshment through word and action to people who have had energy drained from them by circumstances or hurtful people. When you live a refreshing life, you will also experience freshness in your own life.
