Passage: Psalm 119:161-168
Protests in the streets. Wars and terrorism across the globe. Christians facing persecution. We would all like there to be peace in the world, but peace is illusive and hard to achieve. Even when peace comes, it is temporary and can be lost in a moment. The same is true for our lives. Rising prices and economic uncertainty cause anxieties for many. Relational conflicts and broken homes bring hurt. Depression is a growing problem, and suicides have risen in America and are the second leading cause of death among the ages of 10-34, but the highest rates are among adults 75 and above.
The ultimate answer is not found in anything offered by the world. The answer to peace is found in the transforming power of the gospel. Jesus told His disciples on the night before His crucifixion, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” The peace of Christ is not the absence of conflict and stress on the outside. It is the security of the soul on the inside. When you are bound in Christ, you have His presence with you and He wants you to experience His peace.
