Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: ‘Before the rooster crows twice you will deny me three times.’ And he broke down and wept.”
(Mark 14:72)
       Passage: Mark 16:1-7

Peter failed. He had boasted that he would never deny Jesus, but he did. He can a futile attempt at fighting in his own strength, but his whatever he was thinking, was not in God’s plan and he failed. In the three times, he was confronted by people pointing to him as a disciple of Jesus, he failed in standing up for the Lord. When the rooster crowed the second time, conviction overwhelmed Peter and he wept bitterly.
On the morning of the resurrection, the angel announced the resurrection to the women who came to the tomb. Mark 16:7 tells us specifically that the angel said, “Go, tell His disciples and Peter. . .” Peter felt like a failure before the crucifixion. He felt like a failure even after the resurrection. Jesus would let him know that nothing you have done in the past can ever stop His love or plan to use you in the present. God calls us to be faithful, but He knows our sin nature will cause us to fail at times. He forgives us when we confess our sin and He will use us as we commit ourselves daily to Him. Be faithful and let God use you today.
