JESUS - LORD AND SAVIOR - Jesus Calls Us to be Faithful

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “ ‘You will all fall away,’ Jesus told them, . . . Peter declared, ‘Even if all fall away, I will not.’ ‘I tell your he truth,’ Jesus answered, ‘Today - yes, tonight - before the rooster crows twice you yourself will deny me three times.’ But Peter insisted emphatically, ‘Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you.’ And all the others said the same.” (Mark 14:27-31)
      Passage: Psalm 32:1-11

After Jesus had what we now call the Lord’s Supper with His disciples, he led them toward the Mount of Olives. There, or on the way, He plainly told them that they would all fall away from Him that night. He also told them that He would rise from the dead, but that went right over their heads. Peter boldly insisted that he would never deny Jesus even if everyone else did. Jesus looked at Peter and specifically predicted that he would in fact, deny Jesus three times before morning. Peter was taken aback and insisted that he would die with Jesus before denying Him and all the rest agreed. There were sincere when they said that, but they did fall away and run just as Jesus said.

I have never had anyone make a public commitment to receive Jesus personally or unite with our local church family who also said that he or she would not be faithful to that commitment. Yet, over time the majority of believers stop coming, giving or serving. Like Peter and the disciples on that night of Jesus’ arrest, many believers say they will be faithful, but they don’t stay faithful. Faithfulness is a choice to make that God will help you if you are willing. Be faithful to Christ. It will be worth it all when you see Him face to face.
