Exercise Faith

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter remembered and said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered?’ ‘Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ‘I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘God, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:20-24)
   Passage: Hebrews 11:1-6

When Jesus and His disciples were coming back to Jerusalem on Tuesday, after He had cleansed the Temple on Monday, they say that the fig tree He cursed had shriveled up and showed on the outside what it really was on the inside. Dead. They were all amazed, but Jesus took it as a teaching moment to tell them that fulfilling God’s purposes and being fruitful required them to exercise faith.
Faith is putting your dependence upon God. It is trusting Him to guide and guard you through all you encounter. It is knowing that He is bigger than any problem you face. It is acknowledging that He is never caught off guard by an unexpected situation and He never says, “I have no idea what to do.” You are saved by faith in Jesus. You serve by faith in Jesus. Trust God each day and let Him bear fruit through you.
