God is Willing to Send Revival
Pray – (1/2 minute)
Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation. I will listen to what God the Lord will say; He promises peace to His people, His saints – but let them not return to folly. Surely His salvation is near those who fear Him, that His glory may dwell in our land.” (Psalm 85:6-7)
Passage: Psalm 85:1-12
Across America, some studies have found that around 80% of churches are either plateaued or in decline. Though I believe there are several reasons that may be cited, I think much of it has to do with churches getting comfortable and complacent with doing church instead of being the church, as Jesus intended. People want to be served instead of serving. They expect any work of reaching people to be done by the preacher, instead of by the people in the pews. They have adapted to a cultural attitude of wanting things their own way, wanting things fast and wanting them cheap. Many churches are in need of revival.
The question the Psalmist asked God in Psalm 85 is a question that churches across America need to ask, God, “Will you not revive us again?” God is willing. The need is for His people to have a “want-to”. That want-to comes from being convicted of our need, confessing our sin and making a fresh commitment to glorify God and work with Him as He builds His Kingdom. An old hymn gives a good attitude for you to have when it says, “Lord, send a revival . . . and let it begin in me.”
