God Knows What He Wants You to Do

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “When they arrived at the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings toward the rebuilding of the house of God on its site. . . The priests, the Levite’s, the singers, the gatekeepers and the temple servants settled in their own towns, along with some of the other people, and the rest of the Israelite’s settled in their towns.” (Ezra 2:68-70)
  Passage: 1 Peter 2:9-12

When the Jewish exiles returned to Jerusalem and Judah, they went with a defined purpose. They were called to rebuild the Temple and to re-inhabit the Promised Land. That purpose energized them and it gave them their marching orders for what they were to do. They invested their time, their talents and their treasures into the work and I am sure that there was an excitement in their hearts amid any anxieties about what they might face after being gone from the homeland for so many years. Each person who went was important for the work. They didn’t all give the same amount of money. They didn’t all have the same assignments.
God knows who you are. He knows where you are and He knows what He has gifted you for and what He wants you to do. Generally, He wants you to “glorify Him and work with Him to build His kingdom.” He wants you to be a reflection of Him in the world and help bring people to Christ. When God gives an invitation to join in His work, say yes. It is worth it all!
