A Quiet Time Keeps God’s Purposes Before You

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “The people were looking for Him and when they came to where He was, they tried to keep Him from leaving them. But He said, ‘I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.’ And He kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.” (Luke 4:42b-44)
   Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

       Many years ago, I saw a picture of a small store with a sign in the window announcing that the store was closing. The sign read, “Going out of business. We didn’t know what our business was.” In the business world, it is important for a company to know what their main product is, who is their main customer target and why they are in business in the first place. In your life personally and in the life of your church, it is also important to know what your purpose is.  The Apostle Peter talked about Satan being like a roaring lion looking for who he could devour. (1 Peter 5:8). If Satan can’t destroy you or your church, his next goal is to distract you and your church from fulfilling God’s purposes.
      Jesus faced this when people in the area of Galilee tried to keep Him from leaving, but Jesus didn’t lose sight of who He was and what He came to do in proclaiming the good news and ultimately paying the penalty for the sin of mankind. You have a purpose to glorify God and work with Him to build His Kingdom. A Quiet Time helps keep God’s purpose before you as you set out for the day. Whatever you do and wherever you go, you are an ambassador for Christ. Let others see Jesus in you!
