Passage: Psalm 119:9-16
When you believed in Jesus and received Him as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit entered your life. You were born again with the nature of Christ, and you now have His Spirit within you. However, the old sin nature still resides in you as well. It won’t go into eternity, but it still has power to pull you away from the things of God. Satan knows the weaknesses of your flesh. He knows the areas that he can try to exploit and if he catches you at a weak moment, he can hurt your life and witness.
Jesus is our example to follow. He spent time alone with God the Father and He knew the Word of God. When Satan tempted Him, He quoted the Scripture back and overcame the temptations of Satan. The 40-day testing in the wilderness was not the end of Satan’s attacks on Jesus. Those attacks and temptations were constant. Jesus overcame them every time. Obviously, you and I are imperfect and we will sin. However, a Quiet Time helps protect you by getting the Word of God into your mind and heart in the morning. God will use that to help you throughout the day.
