Passage: 1 Corinthians 3:11-13
About 40 years ago, our church began having a full audit of our finances every year. That audit examines every expenditure we make to see if it has documentation with a receipt that shows what it was for. The audit examines our processes for collecting, counting and depositing receipts. I would like to believe that nothing would ever be done wrong financially if we didn’t have the audit, but there are many stories of churches, that thought no one would misappropriate funds, that had money stolen.
In the same way that we have an audit of our church finances, one day, every believer will give an account for their lives after receiving Christ. That account will not determine their eternity in heaven. That was paid for and received by grace through simple faith in Jesus. That accounting will include how we managed the money God allowed to come into our hands. Wise Budgeting includes giving first to God through the local church He placed you. When you put God first, He will help you learn to manage the rest in a way to enable you to be financially free and faithful to His call.
