Cooperate with Others to Reach out for Jesus

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that He had come home. So many gathered there was no room left, not even outside the door, and He preached the word to them. Some men come, bringing to Him a paralytic, carried by four of them.”
(Mark 2:1-3)
   Passage: Matthew 9:36-38

         The miracle Luke and Mark describe that happened in Capernaum to a paralyzed man, holds great principles for us in understanding what God wants us to do in helping people come to Christ. First, we must have compassion for people in need. The paralyzed man was blessed to have friends who didn’t just feel sorry for him, they put feet to their compassion. Second, we must cooperate together to do the work God calls us to do. When Luke relates this event, he simply says that some men came carrying the man. Mark indicates a group larger than four since he specifies that of the group that came, four of them carried the man.
       God did not design us to do life alone or ministry alone. We are better together and we can do more when we cooperate. In the case of the paralyzed man, one big, strong man may have physically been able to carry him, the task was much lighter when four men shared the load. Also, the others who came were able to jump in at any time. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Cooperation leads to great things being done.
