   Passage: 1 Peter 2:1-3

I once gave my wife, Pam, a gift card that had a caption on the front that read, “You’re kind of my favorite.” When you believed and received Jesus, that caption would apply to how God feels toward you. At the same time, it would apply to every believer from the day of Pentecost till now. Peter recognized this when God sent him to share the gospel with the Roman centurion, Cornelius and all those in Cornelius’ home. Peter said, “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism, but accepts men from every nation who fear Him and do what is right.” (Acts 10:34-35)
Increasing in favor with God is not being loved by God more than someone else. Favor with God is receiving His grace to live out His purposes for your life. It begins with confessing Jesus as Lord and receiving salvation. It continues as you grow more mature in faith and seek to be conformed to the image of Jesus. It involves desiring to learn more from God’s Word and living it out. Be a determined disciple and keep developing spiritually to be a positive reflection and productive witness of Jesus.
