Determined Discipleship is Determined to Manage Money Well

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. He said to them, ‘You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God’s sight.’ ” (Luke 16:14-15)
   Passage: Psalm 57:1-11

‍ ‍One of Jesus’ favorite teaching methods was the use of parables. A parable is a story that conveys a spiritual truth using an earthly story. Some parables deal with agriculture, such as planting and reaping, but the most common thing Jesus used in His parables was money. 42% of all of His parables directly or indirectly involve money. The reason for that is that we live in a material world and money is one of the biggest things Satan knows can distract and destroy the lives and witness of God’s people.

In Luke 16, Jesus told at parable know as the Parable of the Unjust Steward or the Shrewd Manager. When He finished the Pharisees showed their disgust, but not because they thought He was wrong. They loved money more than people and they knew He was talking about them being poor managers of God’s money. God wants you to be financially free and faithful to fulfilling His purposes. He has principles in His Word for you to live by and some of those principles are found in this parable. As a disciple, be determined to learn and live by God’s principles for money management. His plan is best and you will be blessed.
