          Passage: Psalm 46:1-7

Two boys met on the first day of school and found out they were both new to the school. One boy said, “My family has moved three times in the past three years.” The other boy replied, “That’s nothing. My parents moved five times this year, but I found them every time!” Many parents get a laugh at that joke, because, while they know that while parenting has its challenges, they would never abandon their children. Unless something is drastically wrong with the parents, every parent wants the best for their children. We’re wired that way. God created us in His image and He loves everyone in this world and He wants the best for them. That best is only found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus to have Jesus bless the children. The disciples tried to stop them because they thought Jesus was too tired and they didn’t consider the children important enough to interrupt His day. Jesus was angry when He found out, because He loved children and no one was more important to Him than those children. Children can’t come to Jesus on their own. They have to be brought to Him. When parents bring children to church, the church must do all we can to welcome them and be help lead them to Jesus.
