      Passage: Romans 10:9-10

God was specific in giving the 10 Commandments to His people through Moses. The first two commandments were, “You shall have no other gods before me”, and “You shall nor make for yourself an idol . . .” King Ahab of Israel had rejected those commandments, and he led the nation to do the same. When Elijah appeared and called out to Ahab, his first statement was a confession to remind Ahab who God is. His confession proclaimed that there is only one God over Israel and He is a living God. Baal and all other gods of the people around Israel were mere idols made up in the minds of men and fashioned with human hands. They had no power and they were not worthy of any worship. By stating a clear confession of who God is, Elijah set the foundation for calling the nation back to God.
One day, Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied that people were saying He was John the Baptist or Elijah or one of the other prophets. Jesus then asked, “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:13-16) Revival and awakening will never come without God’s people making a clear confession of who Jesus is. Jesus is Lord! He is God, our King and our Savior. No one can enter heaven apart from faith in Jesus and we must be clear in our confession of Him in order to make an impact in our world.
