He is coming with Onesimus, our faithful and dear brother, who is one of you. They will tell you everything that is happening here.” (Colossians 4:7, 9)
Passage: John 1:10-13
Family is God’s idea and in creation, the home was established before the church. If a couple has children, God’s design is for the children to have a home where they are loved, encouraged, and developed into responsible adults, who can repeat the process of family for generation after generation. It’s sad when a family is dysfunctional and the children are not raised in a healthy, loving home or must be removed for their safety.
God designed the local church to be a spiritual family for His children to have a home where they can grow in Christ to become mature disciples. Jesus is the groom. The church is the bride. Believers are children who are brothers and sisters in Christ. Just as every child needs a home, every believer needs a church home. No church is perfect, but every church should be a place where members of God’s family can gather in a place where they are love and nurtured. Thank God for your local church and make it your aim to help your church be the kind of family God wants her to be.
