DNA - The DNA of the Spirit

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” (1 Peter 1:22-23)
     Passage: Psalm 150:1-6

You probably don’t think about it, but DNA is the reason you are who you are. You received half of your DNA from your father and half from your mother. Your DNA contained the instructions for how to create organ tissue, how to make the body develop, function and survive. The chromosomes of your DNA determined if you were male or female and what you would look like. At the moment of conception, you received all of your DNA and that is when your life began. Everything after conception has simply been a stage of human development.

What God designed in the physical world, He has designed in the spiritual world. The spiritual DNA is Christ in you through His Holy Spirit. Not only do you have His DNA in you as a believer, the church also has the DNA of the Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 3:16, Paul addresses the local church in Corinth and uses the plural you, meaning all of them together, when he says, “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?” The life that the DNA of the Spirit gives to you as a believer and to your local church can be aided by good things or damaged by negative things. Thank God for His DNA and set your heart to follow His leading in your life and your church.
