Renew Your Sense of Purpose

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “The Lord said to him, ‘Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Syria. Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha, son of Shaphat from Abel-Meholah to succeed you as prophet.” (1 Kings 19:15-16)
  Passage: 2 Timothy 1:1-6; 4:1-5

When Elijah went into a period of depression, one of the things he indicated in saying he wanted God to take his life, was that he felt like he had no more purpose for living. God directly let him know that was not true. When God told him to go back the way he came, God was not only sending him back to Israel physically, he was also sending him back to a renewal of his call purposefully. God had a plan to use Hazael and Jehu and He had a plan for continuing the prophetic work in Israel after Elijah time was completed.
As long as you live here on earth, God has a purpose for your life. That overall purpose is “to glorify God and work with Him as He builds His Kingdom.” Wherever you go and whatever you do in your home and outside your home, you are an ambassador for Christ. His purpose is the same and He wants to use you every day. At times, he will give you a particular assignment to do, but He never wants you to lose sight of the purpose for which you are here. Living on purpose for Christ will energize you each day.
