Be Steady in Service to Christ

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to every town and place where He was about to go. He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field. Go! . . .’ ” (Luke 10:1-3a)
  Passage: Galatians 6:6-10

It often is overlooked, but during Jesus’ ministry on earth, He had more followers than the 12 disciples. Matthias was on of those followers and though he wasn’t chosen by Jesus to one of the original twelve, he didn’t get his feelings hurt and quit following Jesus. Instead, he was secure in his faith that Jesus was the Messiah, he was supportive of Jesus’ choices, and he was available to serve in any way he could. I’m confident that he was in the group of 72 that Jesus sent out two by two to go tell people about Jesus and minister in His name.
God can and will use anyone who is willing to be used and who will be steady in his or her service for the Lord. You may or may not receive much recognition from others, but be assured, God recognizes every act of service and the attitude with which you do it. Jesus told a parable in Matthew 25 about separating sheep from goats, the sheep being true believers. He commended the sheep for service and said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matt. 25:40) Be a good living example for Christ and be steady in service to Him.
