Be Caring and Compassionate

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “…Dorcas was always doing good and helping the poor.” (Acts 9:36b)
      Passage: Titus 3:1-8

        A little boy was drawing a picture during Sunday School. His teacher asked him what it was. He said it was a picture of God. The teacher said, “No one knows what God looks like.” The boy replied, “They will when I am finished!”  We have many portraits of what people think Jesus may have looked like, but now one knows. The reality is that Jesus may not have been very attractive on the outside. Isaiah 53:2 says, “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.” It wasn’t the outward appearance of Jesus that drew people to Him. It was the beauty of His character and His conduct which show the care and compassion of God perfectly.
      Dorcas followed the example of Jesus. She cared for others and showed compassion through what she did. She made clothes for those who needed them and gave financially to help those less fortunate than herself. She left a good example for us. Good works that are practical and beneficial do not make us believers. They show that we are believers and that we are disciples of Christ. Live a beautiful life and be caring and compassionate. Let others see Jesus in you.
