Living Examples - Rely on God IN Prayer

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
      Passage: Mark 9:14-29

        The early church had little, if any, political influence. They had few resources. They realized that they didn’t have any capability withing themselves to accomplish the commission that Jesus gave them to “make disciples of all nations.” However, they understood one thing. They had a power the world did not possess. That power didn’t lie within their own flesh. It was the power of the Holy Spirit within them and the power of God which was released through prayer. Jesus had given His disciples a living example of reliance on prayer and they followed His example.
        When I look at the fact that the majority of churches in America are plateaued or dying and that many churches disband every year, I wonder if any had spent time in concerted, fervent prayer, asking God not only to move in a fresh way, but asking what they should do to join Him in His work. The early church prayed regularly and fervently and then they were committed to ministering and sharing the gospel. God used them to “turn the world upside down.” Rely on God in prayer and watch Him move in a mighty way.
