Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.” (Acts 18:1-3)
      Passage: Proverbs 17:17; Proverbs 27:17

Whatever occurs in your life, God will use for your good and His glory as you are faithful to Him. A living example of that is the couple Paul met in Corinth named Aquila and Priscilla. Luke tells the historical event that got them to Corinth, when the Emperor Claudius expelled all Jews in 49 AD. An ancient Roman historian explained that this came because of the rising conflict that was happening among Jews over a man, he wrote as Chrestus, which was probably a misspelling of Christ.
God used that expulsion to position Aquila and Priscilla to be able to befriend Paul during a time when he felt alone, weary and perhaps discouraged from the low response to the gospel in Athens. They welcomed Paul and provided a place for him to stay. They worked with Paul in business and helped provide a way for him to gain resources and have the satisfaction of working with his hands. They also waited with him and gave him time to rest and recover. In other words, they were friends. Friends are a gift from God and Kingdom partners give support to fellow believers and to those called to serve in local churches. Be a friend for Christ.
